Training Titles and Descriptions
Trainings are primarily geared toward
investigative multidisciplinary team members
(law enforcement, CPS and forensic
interviewers), however, all multidisciplinary
team members - including advocates,
therapists, forensic medical professionals
and CAC staff - will benefit from attending.
Some trainings are suitable for board
members, community activists, other
organizations and media. Please contact
Detective Johnson if you have any questions.
Investigation
The protection of physically and sexually abused children is inextricably bound to the ability of Law
Enforcement and Child Protective Services to gain detailed, factual information. This information, when
coordinated with other team members (Medical, Therapeutic and Prosecution), begins the process of
true protection for that child.
Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs)
Many communities realize the value of a coordinated response to child maltreatment. Detective
Johnson's MDT trainings are built on the premise that MDTs are the foundation of the child abuse
intervention and investigative process.
Perpology
Understanding how a child molester thinks is at the core of getting the perpetrator to make
incriminating statements about his offenses. These trainings follow traditional models of
understanding the mindset of child molesters. Successful interrogation techniques are also
presented.
Victimology
Law Enforcement's sensitivity to the needs of child victims and non-offending parents is often
questioned by other members of the MDT. These areas are not taught in traditional investigation
training. Detective Johnson brings his law enforcement perspective and MDT experience to introduce
and familiarize investigators with recognized concepts that have direct bearing on their mission to secure
objective, factual and detailed information, while gaining an appreciation and understanding of the
psychological needs of victims and non-offending caregivers.
Keynotes
Suitable for presentation to community members as well as child abuse professionals, Detective Johnson's keynotes are interactive, entertaining and informative.
